In the town of Perdido Beach, California, suddenly everyone over the age of 15 vanishes. Poofs. Disappears. Imagine that.

Suddenly there are no adults, no answers. What would you do? In the blink of an eye, the world changes. The adults vanish without a trace, and those left must do all they can to survive. But everyone's idea of survival is different. Some look after themselves, some look after others, and some will do anything for power...even kill.

For Sam and Astrid, it is a race against time as they try to solve the questions that now dominate their lives...
What is the mysterious wall that has encircled the town of Perdido Beach and trapped everyone within? Why have some kids developed strange powers? And can they defeat Caine and his gang of bullies before they turn fifteen and disappear too? It isn't until the world collapses around you that you find out what kind of person you really are. A chilling portrayal of a world with no rules.

When life as you know it ends at 15, everything changes.

Sam Temple, known for being a hero of the town, steps up and tries to create order amongst the chaos and confusion of the phenomenon that has happened. Along with the help of smart girl Astrid and best friend Quinn, Sam and the group discover a barrier circling Perdido Beach , now known as the FAYZ (Fallout Alley Youth Zone). Amongst all of the terror Sam experiences a power and he isn't the only one. With more and more kids discovering a power some use them for good whilst others for bad. With multiple plot lines interlinking and rivals from the two schools encircled in the FAYZ can peace be restored before Sam or anyone vanish on their 15th Birthday?

********************
I have been wanting to read this book for many years now and with the aid of my Kindle I finally bought it! WOW! I absolutely loved the narrative of Gone; what wonderful characters and such vivid description of the FAYZ and the world they've been thrown into. As a reader I definitely felt part of the experience and journey each character went through. I was so happy that Lana found civilisation, anger with Sam at Caine and the ending, I was in shock. I hope kids do not act that way if this was to happen. The ending I was so worried about all the way through reading as I was worrying how Michael Grant was going to continue the series, as technically the main character Sam was meant to (SPOILER ALERT!!) "poof" or "blink out. It was written beautifully. Massive praise to Michael Grant. The idea of the novel being set in present day, yet with a sort of dystopian world, is amazing. A truly wonderful book. I can't wait to read 'Hunger'.

Enjoy x
