The second book in the Wings series.

Laurel ventures back to Avalon to relearn all the things she had forgot when becoming a "human".

A year ago Laurel discovered that she is a faerie, placed among humans when she was a baby. Although she's come to accept her true identity, Laurel refuses to turn her back on her human life - especially her boyfriend, David.

But the faerie realm is in grave danger and when Laurel is summoned, she must trust charismatic faerie-guard Tamani. Laurel's feelings for him are strong, and she is soon forced to make a choice that could break her heart...

I preferred this to Wings, it has more story, more character development and more mystery. I mean you get to know more about  David, Chelsea, Tamani and Avalon in this novel whereas Wings was the build up to it. I loved this book I felt like the first 10 (ish) chapters could have been a book in its own because so much happens in this book, and although it is not a very big book, Aprilynne Pike has written this so well that everything adds up and you feel like you've spent a year in the world. Which is a positive not a negative!
I absolutely love the character of Tamani. But oh he is a cheeky devil! Getting in between Laurel and David's relationship. David doesn't do much to help either as he gets jealous rather easily. I have to say I prefer Tamani to David as although he was supportive towards Laurel he wasn't very trusting/assuring for Laurel - what with David carrying the gun which Laurel did not want and not listening to Laurel at time when she needed to explain her actions... but both are awesome characters!!!
I really did enjoy this second book and if you haven't read and want something to read that's different from Vampires then pick up this book!!!

Enjoy x
