Robbie Williams: Take The Crown Tour 2013

29th June 2013
at Wembley Stadium, London.

So come on let me entertain you....

On Saturday 29th June my Mum and I ventured to London to see Robbie Williams in concert and it just so happened to have been one of the best weekends for weather this year...so far!

So after travelling through many stations we finally got to Wembley Station and joined the rest of the women (and some men) in the queue to enter Wembley Stadium. Now considering the venue opened at 4pm I was surprised to notice that there were not that many people in the part where we were entering the stadium. Nevertheless my Mum and I entered and we had unreserved seating/standing so we got to stand on the pitch. I say 'stand on the pitch' but of course it was covered with plastic flooring so we don't ruin the grass!

Now entering Wembley Stadium just after four and realising that the opening acts don't start till 6/7pm is a long time to waste doing little to nothing. But alas the sun was out and most of the fans were sitting on the pitch bathing in the sunshine (and many getting a little bit red!) however it is a little boring sitting around for two hours waiting. So my Mum and I walked to the stalls where they sold merchandise and food.

So the hours passed away and finally one of the opening acts began their performance:
Scott Mills... Scott Mills is a BBC Radio 1 DJ, most commonly known for his segment called "Innuendo Bingo" where stars, who have a mouth full of water, go head to head to attempt to not laugh at the innuendo's found in tv, film and radio programmes; if you laugh your opponent gets sprayed with the water that was held in your mouth. Scott Mills was brilliant at getting the crowd warmed up and partying to many remix's and dance songs including the anthem 'Mr Brightside' by the Killers.

The second act was none other than Olly Murs the cheeky chap who originally auditioned on X Factor, who came runner up to winner Joe McElderry (where is he now?), Olly Murs soon shot to fame by signing a record deal with Syco Music and throughout the years ended up presenting on the Xtra Factor along side Caroline Flack. Olly Murs has had many hits with songs like 'Please Don't Let Me Go', 'Thinking of Me', 'Heart Skips A Beat', 'Dance With Me Tonight' and 'Troublemaker'.

Olly Murs was absolutely fantastic he got the crowd pumped up dancing and singing along, he even cracked out some of his dance moves with his back up singers and overall looked like he was having the time of his life! Who wouldn't if you were performing at Wembley Stadium?!!

Olly Murs later came on to perform with Robbie Williams to sing 'Kids' which was originally dueted with Kylie Minogue but Olly Murs was just as hilarious and cheeky as ever. Olly and Robbie have brilliant on stage chemistry, both cheeky, happy and having the times of their lives. Robbie even embarrassed Olly after he came off stage by showing a clip of Olly's most embarrassing moment to date when he fell down some stairs whilst performing live.

Then it was time for the main man himself:

Robbie Williams Who started off in the popular band Take That and later became a solo artist has become a global star loved by women and men of all ages all around the world. With high selling albums and songs such as 'Angels', 'Feel', 'Millennium', 'Kids', 'Let Me Entertain You' as well as many others he really is a great musician.

Robbie Williams stage was set up with a massive sculpture of his face with which Robbie made his grand entrance by coming out of the top of his head and zip wiring down to the stage. It was a brilliant entrance.
Also the back drop with which the sculptured head was placed upon ended up being rather an artsy wall throughout his performances. During some of his songs they had Robbie Williams head come to life (through video) to make it look like the head was singing along. Also during Robbie's performance of 'Me and My Monkey' the face morphed into a monkey pulling many faces, alternating with Robbie's own face pulling many faces. The special effects were amazing.
Following the special effects on the wall of the stage Robbie also had props come out. These also being heads similar to his latest album cover 'Take The Crown'. These heads each contained or produced various things; for example one head had yellow and red balloons come out of its head, another had fire flame out of the crown of its head and another was a giant Robbie disco ball...picture that!

Robbie Williams is a great entertainer and I'm pretty sure everyone was left with a massive smile etched across their faces. What I really loved about the concert was that Robbie wasn't afraid to make a laugh of things as well as mock himself, he just looked like he was having an amazing time and not really caring and it worked brilliantly as the crowd was laughing along and having a wail of a time too. It ended up being a brilliant experience and the crowd were left singing 'Angels' alone and this continued as the crowd left the stadium and headed for the station - it was a truly amazing feeling being in the middle of all of these devoted fans who were singing 'Angels' at the top of their voices. The security even joined in by playing 'Angels' off his phone down his megaphone. It was one of the best nights of my Mum's and my life.

Did any of you go to see Robbie Williams in concert this year? If so leave a comment telling me how you felt about the experience you had :)

Enjoy x
