Paranormal prom stories from five authors:
Meg Cabot, Stephenie Meyer, Kim Harrison, Michele Jaffe, Lauren Myracle.

In this collection, bestselling authors including Stephenie Meyer (Twilight) and Meg Cabot (The Princess Diaries) take bad Prom nights to a whole new level - a paranormally bad level...

Wardrobe catastrophies and two left feet are nothing compared with discovering you're dancing with the Grim Reaper - and he isn't here to tell you how hot you look...

From vampire exterminations to angels fighting demons, these five stories will be more fun than any DJ in a bad dinner jacket. No corsage or limo rental necessary - just great, sexy, scary fun!

The Exterminator's Daughter - Meg Cabot
Mary's best friend, Lila,  has suddenly dumped her long time boyfriend for a new guy and with Prom quickly approaching Mary knows Sebastian Drake is not what he seems to be. He's a vampire. With the aid of Mary's ex, Ted, and his friend Adam they create a distraction big enough to prevent Mary from an early death. Can they stake Sebastian Drake and save Lila before the Prom is over?

The Corsage - Lauren Myracle
Frankie, Yun Sun and Will all visit psychic Madame Zanzibar (a bit of a phoney) and come across odd assortments in her office including a corsage. The corsage gives its owner 3 wishes. But when Frankie decides it's her turn for some wishes, a bad smell and a death turn her world upside down. So when she casts her second wish, will it restore life as it was?

Madison Avery and the Dim Reaper - Kim Harrison
It's Madison's birthday and the best way she's spending it is at a sailor themed Prom; with a sucky date who's only along because his Dad said so. Madison soon meets Seth, a mysterious guy who she's never seen at her school before and as Madison had an argument with Josh she confides in Seth to take her home. Although Seth is not what Madison thinks he is.

Kiss and Tell - Michele Jaffe
Meet Miranda: a roller derby, good samaritan taxi driver kind of girl. So on the eve of Prom Miranda has to picks up an unforgettable customer, who is more concerned about kissing guys than getting to her destination on time. Miranda drops her off to some suspicious looking "parents" and with Miranda's previous good streak she investigates. She soon realises to listen to not only her heart but also theirs.

Hell On Earth - Stephenie Meyer
Gabe at Prom has been ditched by his date Celeste. The only reason he asked her is because he got this urgent feeling that she need to be protected and saved. And she isn't the only girl at Prom who needs protecting. A story of demons, misery and half angels who turn the Prom from bad to good.

**********************

I have never really read a book full of short stories before and this was definitely different. I enjoyed the stories however with some I feel like they had more story to them and it would have been good to find out what happened after Prom; especially with 'The Exterminator's Daughter' and 'Madison Avery and the Dim Reaper'. However some stories I warmed to than others; I thought Frankie in 'The Corsage' was a bit of an idiot, she was a bit self obsessed and wanted the best Prom for her and didn't think wisely about the wishes she were making. Also 'Kiss and Tell' had a lot of back story that I wish was mentioned as well as what happens afterwards. Stephenie Meyer's short story was good as it was literally a short story that needed no prequel or sequel as everything is pretty much concluded in the end.

Like I previously mentioned I really enjoyed Meg Cabot's 'The Exterminator's Daughter' as I felt that this could have been a story on its own, it had interesting characters which I would have liked to learn more about, including the compelling Sebastian Drake. And at the end of the story I wanted to know if she could save her mum and kill Dracula.
Similarly I enjoyed 'Madison Avery and the Dim Reaper' and I was left wondering what would happen to Madison, would she learn the ways of Reaping? How would her family and friends cope. And also in 'Kiss and Tell' I felt the story had a lot of back story that could have been mentioned and again could have been made into a full novel.

Overall this book was a quick read as each short story is an average of 50 pages and they do make good short stories. If anyone else has read this book let me know what you think.

Enjoy x
